welcome. Prayers for OLQA (Our Lady Queen of Angels, Newport Beach)
begins today.
I've been coming to OLQA since the old church days & felt welcome and part of the community back then.
Then they built the new
church building & things changed significantly & even though I've been
around for longer than a lot of the new parishioners, some of these newbies
treat me like I'm the new one.
And one of the newish priests also gives me that look like I was just born yesterday.
So there's been a gradual takeover by actual newbies-subtly pushing out the old timers like myself.
So I just accepted going
to the prayer chapel in the morning. But then this morning at 8 am the prayer
chapel was locked as well.
So I am resigned to moving on to another faith community even though I live so close to OLQA.
At my age I can't play "the kid" anymore. It's not age -appropriate.
I may continue to do what I call e-mass at OLQA ( ie "exterior mass" ) where I am near to the church but NOT inside.
I can be close to the church and pray-- just the proximity to
the actual body of Christ is helpful.
I am trying to avoid driving as much because of gas prices but I will have to go over to St. Neumann probably if I want to do interior mass.
Or
maybe to one or the other closer to the ocean -- used to go there every now
& then. But OLQA was always my favorite. Until it wasn't. It is SO sad.
But it is what it is.
I will always PRAY for the OLQA community.
May God be with the newbies who have made themselves at home. I suppose there will come a time when some other newbies will do to you what you have done to some of us.
It's a vicious cycle. Enjoy being in the
"in crowd" for the time being. God
bless you.
